Saturday 23rd August 2008 at Pleasington Playing Fields, Blackburn

The team was Jenny Seymour (captain), Kath Sommerville, Emily Topping, Morgan Brown, Lucy Whittaker, Cadeigh Halliwell, Bianca Flint, and Megan Edwards.  A strong team considering holidays.

The tournament was poorly attended compared with past years, with only two other teams competing in the under 12 group. Both teams were from Heyside Angels in Oldham, (Whites and Navy).

We started the day against Heyside Navy, with Bury very motivated to better last years semi-final position.  Straight from the kick-off Bury went for it and were rewarded when Bianca sneaked the ball in from close range (her favourite shooting distance 4 foot).  Bury were well on top and made sure of the win with another from goal machine Bianca, and a third straight from a corner by captain fantastic Jenny.  Great start 3-0 to the shakers.

Next up was against Heyside Whites, a much tougher game as the whites had won the league and both cup competitions last year.  Bury started well but soon were making bad mistakes and did not seem up for it, despite encouragement from Dave and Steve.  Bury went behind to a "dodgy" shot which bobbled past Kath - unlucky.  This woke Bury up and we went on the attack with lots of shots from Lucy and Bianca, and eventually Bianca sneaked in a well worked corner . A point saved but 2 lost, hope this wont cost a place in the final !

Next game was a repeat of the first game against Navy.  Bury totally dominated the game with lots of pressure and shots hitting the post from Lucy and Cadeigh.  Bianca popped up with 2 more well taken goals and an O.G. from their keeper sent us into the final with a 3 - 0 win.

The final group game didn't matter as we were in the final , so everybody tried new positions, Emily stick to defending forget goalie!!!!

The game ended 1 - 1, an unlucky O.G. from Megan, which she very nearly made up for with 3 great shots.  The equaliser was scored after a great run and shot by Cadeigh.

So to the final, surprisingly against Navy!!!!

Bury came out determined not to slip up and ripped into Navy with some great passing and power.  Bury quickly went into the lead with another corner turned in by Bianca, this soon was 2 - 0 as Bianca found the net again.  Jenny made it 3 after a strong run and shot. 3 up at half - time, surely no way back for Navy? Bury coasted through the second half to victory.

Well done girls second tournament won this summer!!!!!!

All points well for the season: Kath solid as ever, Emily and Morgan forming a great defensive partnership, Cadeigh and Lucy with some great skill out wide. Jenny the powerhouse in centre mid and of course Bianca with 7 goals, fantastic.

Only one bad point, when the gazebo blew over onto the Heyside's parents.  No injuries , so no court cases coming up.
