04/09/11 Pre-season friendly v Mersey Girls FC U16
The match report for today's game is
something that I wish to keep to myself, due to the fact that it was the
best performance I have seen since I have been at the club, and I got
involved around 2005.
The whole TEAM showed great desire, strength, support, effort, commitment,
to bounce back from an indiffferent display against Manchester City !
Let's go ROCK , the girls from BLACKPOOL next week , when the season does
start !
Bring it on !!
Graham.

03/09/11 Pre-season friendly v Manchester City Ladies FC U16
Today we played a well organised City side that played the game with good passing and good movement, they also communicated well with each other, our shape in the 1st half was a bit flat and maybe confusing after starting with a 4/2/3/1, City caused us a lot of problems , and had a lot of efforts on Goal, the shape of our back 4 was good as we caught City on 2/3 occassions off side, we moved out at the back in a good block solid formation and in the 2nd half we went with a 4/4/2 , our 2nd half performance was more solid and the shape was good, Jess Lockett played well at left back , and the midfield began to get more into the game as the game wore on, Ellen sides and Beth Corris adapted well and the whole team played with good energy levels in the 2nd half, we push on girls for our final pre-season game against Liverpool tomorrow, as the saying goes " Rome was not Built in a Day " and we have a very good squad of Girls who will only get BETTER and FITTER !!
Final Score: Bury Girls & Ladies FC 0 Manchester City Ladies FC U16 8

20/09/08 Preston North End Girls FC V Bury Girls & Ladies FC

With a vastly depleted side
the Under 12s travelled to Preston's " superb " Sports Arena.
Due to the Saturday fixture many players were representing
school teams (thanks St Monica's ).
The 12's were so short out
of a squad of 8 , 2 were goalkeepers !!! So "the Kat Somerville"
was used as a stand in defender.
The team : Megan (ollie)
Olphert, The Kat Somerville , Emily (relax) Toppo, Lucy (were is
my pie) Whittaker , Mia (got any boots) Lighty , Cadiegh (who
scored against utd?) Halliwell , Sophie (feed the soph and she
will score) and Lucy (secret red) Chaddy.
The 8 of Bury were met by
Preston's squad of 16 !!!!! Determined to get revenge for the 2
defeats by the shakers last year. The game started
brightly with both teams up for it. Preston did have more
of the early pressure but Katherine and Emily were up to the
task with some solid defending. Unfortunately a slip up
from a short goal kick let Preston in for the opener, soft one
to concede but Megan was stranded. Bury hit back with some
strong attacks , Sophie and Lucy Whit going close. Some
more Preston pressure resulted in a second for Preston.
Bury did not let this get them down and showed great fight, and
with a quick break away Lucy Chad scored her first for the club
with a cool finish. This was the last action of the half.
The second half started
with Bury defending solidly and looking to counter.
However due to the lack of subs and the heat Bury was running
out of energy, as Preston constantly changed the team keeping
them fresh. Preston grabbed 3 more in the last 10 minutes as
Bury ran themselves to a stand still.
An unlucky result, but we
will have them back at Phillips, and it will be a different
story.

14/10/07 Bury Girls FC V Wigan Athletic Girls FC
Playing this game at home Bury came out flying against a superbly organised Wigan . Wigan soaked up the early Bury pressure and got them selves into the game which was very evenly matched. With both teams getting shots off but no one could convert through the teams fine defences. Then with Wigan on the attack and going straight down the middle into the Bury penalty area disaster struck. A clash of defender into striker. Penalty. Wigan score the penalty to go one nil up. With the fine vocal voice of the manager rallying is troops Bury piled on the pressure and through everything at Wigan. GOAL..... yes Bury get a equaliser and the season ticket holders scream with delight. Half time Bury 1 Wigan 1.
The second half went sort of like the first half with both teams getting there chances but with no one being able to score. Then in the last minute Wigan hit a superb shot from the right side and scored again. Bury tried there hardest to get another goal but time ran out. A superb effort by the players who deserved atleast a point from this game.
