27/09/09     WIGAN ATHLETIC GIRLS FC      v     BURY LADIES & GIRLS FC

Another dry day, sky overcast. The pitch was very flat well mown and clearly marked out and a lot smaller than the Bury home pitch. Ground was firm. The game was started with just nine players the two subs were stuck in traffic at the start of the game.

First Half - Wigan won the toss and kicked off Bury played better football this week but did not have the desire to score, defensively they thwarted every Wigan attack, Lucy ran rings round them for the first twenty minutes and Louisa made a few brave saves, then Wigan scored 1:0.

Second Half - Wigan set off full of confidence and scored their second 2:0  and then from a Wigan goal kick the ball bounced the full length of the field straight into the Bury goal without touching a soul 3:0 the Wigan players acted as if all their dreams had come true and scored two more 5:0. this could be the final act but Bury must have been galvanised into action with the prospect of another whitewash and lifted their heads. Ellie got the ball and ran up the centre of the pitch passed it to Emma who scored 5:1 minutes later Kaitlan took a good opportunity, passed the ball cutting out two Wigan defenders to Emma who then passed it to Ellie who got possession and scored 5:2.  Unfortunately we ran out of time and the game ended.

20/09/09      BURY LADIES & GIRLS FC    v     MILL HILL GIRLS FC

The weather was dry, sunny and the going was good. First time the under 12’s have played  on the new pitch with new goal posts much bigger than the Burnley pitch they played on the week before and the grass had been mown.

First Half - Bury kicked off and the game went from one end to the other no one showing the upper hand which was surprising as Bury played as a team of nine individuals, not passing but running as far as they could with the ball until they lost possession (without any other Bury player to pass to). It took 23 minutes before Mill Hill scored 0:1 and they got another before half time 0:2.

Second Half - Mill Hill opened the proceedings by scoring 0:3 at this threat of a potential thrashing.  Bury showed a bit more effort in the second half Ellie hit the post and Mill Hill did not score again. Louisa had a badly bruised foot half way through the second half so she had to retire from the goal mouth. Nicole took her place for the rest of the match.

It is difficult to determine the cause of this malaise in the majority of the Bury players.  Was it the weather, too hot or was it the size of the “home pitch “ that overawed the girls, but the Mill Hill girls had the same environment to play in did they have a greater will to win?

13/09/2009         BOLTON  GIRLS  FC   v     BURY GIRLS & LADIES FC

The weather was a very clear blue sky with fluffy white clouds drifting overhead, when we arrived at 9:30 with a slight cross wind. By kick off time clouds had blotted out the sun and the wind had risen slightly, the temperature was better for the girls running about. The pitch was flat well mown but one end sloped from one end to the other and the going was firm. Bury won the toss and chose to run uphill for the first half. Again Bury fielded more than the required nine players this time we had three substitutes.

1st HALF

Bury kicked off Bolton gained possession, Lucy intercepts and kicks the ball into touch Bolton get a corner and Louisa saves it then it is Bury’s turn, in the forth minute Emma got the ball just outside the Bolton penalty area and scored a good goal,  the ball went into the top corner of the net 0:1. Bolton tried hard to equalise, Lucy and Nyhme defended well.  It was not until Bury substituted a couple of players did Bolton sense the opening and scored 1:1. They got another just before half time 2:1 from a long run up the field.

2nd HALF

Bury are now running down hill but Bolton defended well, Bury played along with gravity and played in the Bolton half a lot of the time, Bolton made many deep runs and the ball was cleared each time which gave Louisa more confidence and Bolton did not score in the second half. However during one of the many scrambles in the Bolton penalty area, Kaitlan passes behind to the feet of Nicole who received the ball put a foot on it for control and had enough time to kick the ball into the bottom left hand corner 2:2 and we finished with a well deserved draw fielding three new players who have not had much experience or none at all in the Bury team but all played very well.

05/09/09        Burnley Girls FC    V        Bury Girls & Ladies FC

The weather was teetering on rain as it has done all week, cloudy but the temperature was warm enough for chasing the ball around and the going was soft. The pitch was reasonably flat but quite well drained, considering how much rain we have had. Bury had 10 players available which meant one sub and that was Nicole.

Burnley kicked off and did a long shot into Bury’s mid field. Bury took possession of the ball and took it into the Burnley penalty area, the match flowed from one half to the other for the first 15 minutes with one free kick awarded to Bury as a result of Abbie getting dropped just outside the penalty area and Ellie took the free kick aimed for the top right and narrowly missed. After 15 minutes Burnley got the first goal from a free kick, when the Burnley girl kicked the ball it seemed to reach a maximum height of 2 metres and travelled at that height like a missile to the back of the net just under the cross bar so only a 6ft 11 year old could reach and save it. 1:0

Bury tried hard to even the score Ellie (who’s crosses are noticeably more accurate) and Tiegan had good shots, with not much luck. Then Burnley score again 2:0.

Bury K.O. the second half but by this time Burnley are full of confidence and took the play into the Bury half, for much of the second half. Their score rate was not far away from 1 goal every 5 minutes, on the dying minutes Bury made a good effort to get a goal, Abbie got a good shot that tested the reactions of the Burnley keeper but sadly it was saved.  L

28/06/09        Darwen Rangers JFC        V        Bury Girls & Ladies FC

Bury kick off and proceed to move about the pitch with ease, within minutes Bury had won their first corner.  Ellie took the corner, finds Emma’s foot and the ball sails into the back of the net 0:1.  The second goal comes soon after from a goal mouth scramble Emma finds the loose ball and redirects the ball between the legs of all the Darwen defenders and scores again 0:2 after twenty minutes one of the Darwen players got dangerously close to Louisa and made her nervous  but the ball went wide.  Bury then got back to controlling the game and Emma scores her third 0:3. Then just before half time Nicole positions herself just outside the penalty area receives a pass from Tiegan, aims a powerful shot at the goal and the ball crosses the goal line just above the goal keepers head 0:4.

Following half time the manager decided to change some of the girls positions to give them a taste of the game from a different prospective. With Emma in the Goal at the Bury end, Tiegan scored two goals very close together the first was a pass from Ellie and was kicked from outside the penalty area and it found the net.  0:5 and the second goal was a pass from Tessa  0:6. Then Ellie crossed the ball to Tessa who planted the ball in the top L.H. corner of the nets 7:0

Thank you to Darwen Rangers for hosting this friendly with their newly formed side.

16/05/09    Burnley Girls & Ladies FC        V         Bury Girls & Ladies FC

Weather was fine overcast and a wind that was blowing across the pitch to start the match then changed direction to blow down hill for the second half. The pitch was very small but well drained.  A later kick off than scheduled as three of our star players were involved in an early morning cross country then a mad dash to Townley Park to join the match after it had started so needless to say our main midfield players were somewhat jaded.

Bury kicked off for the first time this season with six players, the girls chose for the first half the down hill advantage and held Burnley at bay until the runners arrived, nothing could get passed Tessa.  At 10:40 Ellie, Tiegan and Louisa arrived we had two subs. Five minutes later Burnley scored 1:0. Bury played well but all the players became midfield or defensive players to compensate for the tired legs, there was nobody in a forward position to be a permanent threat to the Burnley defence, just before half time Burnley scored another goal 2:0.

In the second half the game carried on much in the same vein with one exception, Burnley had not organised a referee and one of their parents was the referee for the first half and to be fair offered the esteemed position to one of our parents, the parent who took up the offer, was "Shaun the life guard ref "already dressed in black. He was the referee for the second half and he actually awarded a free kick to the Bury girls for a rough tackle. Burnley scored another two goals in the second half. The Bury girls got beaten again just when we thought they were getting into a formidable form, they passed to each other better than the last time they played Burnley and got a draw on that occasion.

For sheer entertaining football, Bury Girls & Ladies under 11's are the team to watch.

Final Score:  BURNLEY  4        BURY LADIES  & GIRLS   0

10/05/09    Bury Girls & Ladies FC        V         Wigan Athletic Girls FC

Again we had a full team with substitutes all raring to play the long awaited rematch with Wigan.  The weather conditions were warm enough  for running about chasing a ball and the ground conditions were favourable.

Bury kicked off again with three subs on the bench. Just to prove the game play was working, they continued to play impressive football and passing has improved greatly. Bury were putting the pressure on and putting every effort into scoring. Ellie, Emma, Nicole and Tiegan all had shots that were saved, hit the woodwork or narrowly missed. Only occasionally did Wigan take the ball into the Bury half in the first 25 minutes. But then disaster struck Wigan got a goal 0:1 and all of a sudden Wigan got a new life and pushed Bury back, then the Bury defence Tessa, Courtney and Courtney, Kayle, Nyhem and Louisa in goal, kept them away. Every credit to the Bury Girls they recovered quickly and continued to put the pressure on, but could not get to equalise in the first half.

In the second half Wigan carried on with their fresh burst of energy, but Bury kept attacking and after 5 minutes got another corner allowed, Ellie took it and positioned the ball perfectly for Tiegan to drive it home for a perfect goal 1:1. Shortly after, Wigan got into the lead again 1:2

Bury again recovered quickly and continued to put the pressure on then Wigan became nervous they miss kicked the ball and became more physical. Ellie responded with a lot of long runs down the right wing and crossing the ball at the last minute and narrowly missing the goal several times, Then Nicole takes possession just inside the penalty area and hits an accurate shot towards the goal mouth Emma intercepts and deflects the ball fooling the Wigan goal keeper and scores  to get level 2:2

The undisputed player of the match Ellie

06/05/09        Bury Girls & Ladies FC    V    Burnley Girls & Ladies FC

After a few day's of rain, (it did not stop until lunch time today). The match was in question up to 3:30pm. However the sky was overcast when we started the match, with a stiff wind blowing across the pitch from the five a side pitches in the direction of the main road.

Bury kicked off for the first time this season with three subs on the bench and Rick used this to the best advantage giving tired legs a rest without disrupting the flow of play.  Bury immediately went to attack, as each team were getting the measure of each other.  Bury are getting more confident kicking shots at the goal from a shorter range, winning the majority of tackles, although to a certain extent we still win the ball then lose it back to the opposition. 15 minutes into the game Bury's Nicole gets the ball then passes it to Emma who kicked the ball straight into the net, for a well deserved goal. Then Ellie gets a shot that stretches the goal keeper. Burnley tried hard to equalise, Tessa and Nyhme frustrated the Burnley attack repeatedly.

In the second half Burnley tried hard to equalise and Bury put just as much effort into getting a better goal difference, but sadly after 10 minutes of the second half Burnley evened the score 1:1 and then within another 10 minutes got another. 1:2. Bury were creating chances but not finding the back of the net. On one of these occasions Bury took the ball into the Burnley penalty area, the goal mouth was crowded Ellie was in possession she saw Nicole unmarked on the far side of the goalmouth and passed it to her Nicole swung her foot a fraction of a second too early and the ball went sailing passed.  Bury battled on and in the dying minutes of the game Tiegan scores an excellent goal.

The undisputed player of the match Emma

21/03/09        Blackpool Girls FC        V         Bury Girls & Ladies FC

The sky was very overcast, quite nippy but good visibility and dry. The pitch was soft with minimum wind.

Blackpool won the toss and caused quite a stare by changing ends then they kicked off.  Bury played very well they came out fighting, thwarting every one of Blackpool’s attempts at goal, with plenty of tackles and good passes, no team had the dominance of the game for the first 15 minutes, then Blackpool scored with a good accurate shot 1:0.   Then Nicole tried to lob the ball with a high shot which was on target but the ball bounced just before the goal keeper, it was saved and just before half time Ellie made a good cross to Emma who’s shot clipped the post.

In the second half Blackpool looked fresher all the hard work in the first half was beginning to tell, tired Bury legs let the play, centre around the Bury goal mouth more often and it was Louisa with a lot of courage who stopped a lot of the balls going in. But eventually the pressure began to tell and Louisa was outflanked after 10 minutes of the second half the second ball went in 2:0 then after another 5 minutes 3:0. Bury created some good opportunities in the middle part of the second half and again held Blackpool to a stalemate for a while, but 10 minutes before the final whistle three more goals were scored.

15/02/2009        Bury Girls & Ladies FC    V Blue Star Girls FC

The weather was very overcast, but not as cold the last game, Neil and Family provided all manner of refreshments, Hot and Cold drinks and some food on a pasting table. The pitch was soft and not much wind.

Bury kicked off and picked down hill to play for the first half of the game, they made some very impressive passes but the finishing was poor, a lot of shots on goal and Blue Star were in my opinion out classed.  Emma, Tiegan and Ellie were all over the field creating chances and then in the 25th minute of play    Emma took the ball up the field for the umpteenth time and scored a

                                  !!!!!!!!GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL !!!!!!!!!

Then Blue Star created their own chances fired up by the 1-0 deficit, there was a burst of activity in the Bury penalty area. Plenty of defensive players in between the ball and the goal mouth everything covered, a Blue Star player kicked the ball, a leg went up, the ball hit the leg, rebounded, evaded Louisa and ended up in the back of the net.

                                                Half Time Score 1-1

In the second half Blue Star had the down hill advantage and it was a big effort for Bury to keep the ball in the opposite half but they did it, got the ball into the penalty area, then sent the ball anywhere but the back of the net. Blue Star however had one good shot on goal and it went in.

Final Score:    Bury Girls & Ladies FC    1        Blue Star Girls FC    2

The undisputed player of the match was Emma

01/02/2009    Blackpool Girls FC      V     Bury Girls & Ladies FC

The weather was bright, cloudy but very, very cold and the going was firm.  A flask of coffee was essential.

Bury kicked off and picked the up hill half to start the game, made the first break and got a corner, then Nicole takes possession of the ball in midfield, passes to Ellie, then Ellie passes to Emma who has a good shot on goal. Generally domineering the game for the majority of the first half. It took Blackpool 25 minutes to get their first goal five minutes later Louisa fumbled and the second goal trickled over the line.

In the second half Blackpool's next goal was a rebound off one of the Bury defenders. Even though Blackpool had to run uphill in the second half, Bury had lost the dominance of the game. Following a run towards Bury's goal the player ran into Nicole and was awarded a free kick which Blackpool scored from. Another goal was conceded following a prolonged series of corners against Bury where six or seven corners were awarded to Blackpool from the same spot and this was a full day before Ground Hog day. The last two goals were scored very close to the final whistle.

Final Score:  Blackpool Girls FC    5    Bury Girls & Ladies FC  0

The undisputed player of the match was Tiegan

25/01/2009    Academy Juniors FC    V     Bury Girls & Ladies FC

The second match of the New Year, the weather was bright, cloudy and a very cold wind strong at times and the going was soft, but well drained.

Bury got the kick off.  They started very well.  They contained the Academy play and strung together some good passing sequences.  When Academy made an attempt on our goal Nyhme would intersect the ball and send it back up the field every time. Tessa and Louisa solidified the defence. After a good rally with Ellie, Emma and Tegan after just ten minutes of play Ellie took the ball and scored the first.

!!!!!!!GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL !!!!!!

Five minutes later Emma took the initiative and scored the second

!!!!!!GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL !!!!!!!!!  T

Then 5 minutes later Academy scored -  Score 1- 2

Bury fight back and Nicole sends the ball skyward on her first attempt, but her second minutes later hit the post. Emma gets a good run up the field gets within striking distance but loses the ball.

Second Half

Bury started well but instead of controlling the game the play was centred around the Bury goal mouth more often, balls where being kicked away but instead  of clearing the halfway line they were landing at the feet of an Academy player and it was not long before the scores where level.  Bury have gone into defensive play mode while a defensive midfield player was watching the match from the touch line then Academy scored again.  A minute later they scored again    Score 4:2

Bury are getting desperate Ellie hits the side netting Emma gets in a good shot that stretches the goalie. Then Tegan strikes a ball, from the moment it left her foot it was destined for the back of the net.

!!!!!!!!GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL !!!!!!!!!

Final Score:  Academy Juniors FC   4     Bury Girls & Ladies FC  3

The undisputed player of the match was Nyhme

18/01/09        Bury Girls & Ladies FC    V Manchester City Girls FC

This was the first since the 6th of December and our first match on the new home pitch. The weather was bright going cloudy, wind moderate and the going was soft, but well drained.

City won the toss and chose to run uphill for the first half. Bury started very well they contained City’s play, unnerved prospective goal chances and dominated play though out the first half  Emma and Tegan made several attempts on goal Nyhme, Tess and Louisa controlled the situation defensively Ellie and Nicole held the Midfield well with Courtney on the bench. Louisa injured her leg Tessa changed places and Courtney was brought on as substitute. Then a bad rebound ended up in the goal mouth in the dying minutes of the first half taking the score to 0-1.

Bury’s turn to play uphill and the play was centred around the Bury goal mouth more, a very dubious reason for a  free kick was decided and  taken against Bury, Tessa had the ball covered but a deflection off a defender wrong footed Tessa and the second goal was scored after 10 minutes of the second half. A renewed effort caused panic in the face of the City goal keeper she stretched and jumped and just got her fingers to one of Ellie’s chances and knocked the ball over the cross bar, Then Emma, Tegan and Nicole pushed forward and created their own chances and kept the City goal keeper very busy. City scored their third goal within the last 10 minutes.

Undisputed girl of the match was Tessa.

Final Score:    Bury Girls & Ladies 0       Manchester City Girls FC    3

6/12/08        Manchester City Girls FC    V        Bury Girls & Ladies FC

After a week of snow, bad visibility and icy conditions the Wythenshawe pitch that the match was to be played on was bathed in sun light, the sky was blue and the ground was firm.

Bury didn't have the best start.  They took some time to wake themselves up.  A couple of city goals speeded that process up.  Once the Bury Girls got themselves into full match awareness they looked formidable as they dominated much of the first half, frustrating many of City’s attempts to control the game.  The team play and skill level is increasing with every match played.

Bury started the second half in total control, they dominated the game for the first twenty minutes, but the goals did not come, this is a confidence factor. When one of the Bury players gets the chance of goal they are too cautious they need to pepper the goal area with strong confident shots, take the risk if they miss try again once they start scoring their confidence in scoring will equal the confidence that they have achieved in all the other areas of the game. The football entertainment was so good the final whistle came as a surprise.

Final Score:      Manchester City Girls    11        Bury Girls & Ladies FC    0

The undisputed player of the match was  ELLIE

23/11/08        Highfield Girls FC        V     Bury Girls & Ladies FC

For twenty minutes at the start of the game we had high winds and hailstone.   When the hailstone finished a cross wind and occasional showers added to the bad weather conditions.

Bury had 8 players to start the game with one on the bench, Katie was that one, expectations were high. Neither team had won a match this season so both were determined to win.  Bury won the toss for kick off.  In the first half Bury worked well as a team passing to each other and intercepting the opponents passes. The ball was in play in the Highfield half 90% of the time. Bury had lots of wonderful, powerful accurate shots but every time the Highfield goalie caught them and stopped them brilliantly.  Then after 15 minutes Katie who had just replaced Nyhem got one pass the goalie and scored a well deserved goal.  Highfield equalised five minutes later from a rebound which went up in the air and hit the ground then it bounced and went in the opposite direction to Bury’s goalie Louisa.

To start off the second half it was Courtney on the bench. Highfield got kick off and passed it about, then Ellie took a corner, Nicole took possession of the ball then passed it across to Emma.  Emma smacked it towards the net, Highfield’s goalie dived for it but a Highfield player stuck her leg out the ball bounced off, fooled the goalie BANG a own goal.  Then Highfield equalised. Ten minutes later Emma took possession and scored an excellent goal.

The game finished with Highfield getting two more goals the first one drawing level with Bury then the winning goal came minutes before the final whistle.

Final score:        Highfield Girls FC   4        Bury Girls & Ladies   3

16/11/08        Bury Girls & Ladies FC    V        Manchester United Girls FC

Bury knew what to expect having played United previously this season.  At the start Bury was holding United and frustrating their ability to move the ball freely. We could tell by the body language of the opposition that they where not happy with how Bury were playing. The goals that were scored, came from very good shots that were difficult to defend against.  The first half score was a respectable 2 nil to United.

Second half and United still did not have the run of the game, many chances were created by the Bury girls but they lacked that decisive lightening goal scoring touch that the opposition possessed and used (confidently) but in Bury’s favour they played football as a team stringing together series of passes trying very hard to keep the United girls at bay.

Even the final score was half of the previous encounter.

Final Score:    Bury Girls & Ladies FC    0        Manchester United Girls FC    11

01/11/08        Blackpool Girls FC         V         Bury Girls & Ladies FC

The day started well, blue sky when we left home but the clouds gathered over the forthcoming event.  As we got to the away ground the atmosphere seemed seasonally chilly.  There was also a slight apprehension as we arrived to find just three Bury girls warming up and the last one to arrive did so 25 minutes after the scheduled kick off time.  A grand total of five Bury players, against the might of Blackpool.   A serious contender for the top team of the league, fielding a team of ten players.

As the whistle went Bury took the initiative and broke into the Blackpool half, the two attackers Emma and Tegan did not make up ground fast enough and eventually lost the ball.  As the flow of play turned it took Blackpool just five minutes to score their first. Louisa, Nicole and Nyhme played with increasing determination but they could not turn the orange tide, the first half ended with a large hand full of goals against and nothing in Bury’s favour.

The match continued much as the first half finished, with the girls becoming increasingly tired and more disillusioned by the minute. Suddenly Emma takes possession of the ball deep in the Bury half , with great skill runs up the field weaving past the Blackpool midfield, cutting up the defence and fooling the goal keeper slotting the ball neatly in the corner of the net.

     !!!!!!!!  GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL !!!!!!!!!

that was very nicely done. The positive side of that long journey proves again that Bury do have the potential.

12/10/2008        Bury Girls & Ladies FC         v         Academy Juniors FC

Bury has actually started a game with eight players, a sub in the wings, that privilege was awarded to Louisa who was replaced by Nyhem half way through the first half.  The game starts with Academy Juniors hitting the side netting.   Tessa was outstanding in the role of Goal Keeper she even saved a penalty.   The rest of the first half comprised of a lot of attack and counter attack. Emma has a good knack of positioning herself under a high ball and getting a good header from the shot.  Izzy has made her debut match, a return from injury and got herself in a good position for a shot on goal which was saved.  Ellie and Tegan both penetrated the Academy defence which resulted in saves and Nicole’s claim to fame is that no Academy player got past her with the ball. At the half time whistle the score was 0-0.

The game pattern continued as the first half ended with some good end to end football.  Nicole had a cracking shot, she lobbed the ball high to clear the defence and stretched the keeper who just got her fingers to it. Then disaster strikes Tessa strains her wrist saving a shot and Louisa has to replace her. Tessa plays well out of the nets in defence. Tegan has a good run, passes it to Emma who gets the ball cleanly and then a defender takes the ball from under her nose and messes up a well constructed chance.  In the dying minutes Academy Juniors score, which was a shame as both teams had fought an even contest for 60 minutes.

On an optimistic note we may be recruiting two more players this coming Wednesday and thinking even more optimistic, the girls have reduced the goal deficit  with each game they have played another couple of players may tip the balance.

27/09/08             Wigan Athletic Girls & Ladies         V     Bury Girls & Ladies FC

Again we had very good weather and the opposition provided a good playing surface.  The similarities continue with the numbers of players available per team. Wigan had the pick of 10 players and again changed the team of seven regularly. Bury however started with five players for the first seven minutes then Nyhem arrived in full match fitness with a warm up run from the car park.

Tegan made the first break to the Wigan goal and hit the side netting, another Tegan shot minutes later also suffering the same fate, then Ellie hit a good shot on target, the goalie catches and drops the ball giving a very tense moment then recovers, it was Emma’s turn and heads the ball, the very pressured Wigan goalie saved it, and finally Ellie has another shot on target which was again saved. Meanwhile our defence/midfield was pulling its weight, our goal keeper Louisa  who possesses good steady hands and eye for the ball saves the day a good few times, Emma dazzles all with her ball control and Nicole clears the ball effectively with Nyhem flitting in between attack and defence, so by half time the score line was 0-0.

Louisa saved a very good attempt on goal and Nicole clears it with a good long shot. But after five minutes of good end to end play had gone by Wigan scored, another six minutes went by Wigan scored again, followed by a third goal a minute after that and a fourth goal before another ten minutes had gone by. Meanwhile, Bury was still attacking, Ellie took a corner which hit the side netting, Emma heads a very good ball and the goal keeper saves it, Ellie has another shot on target this was also saved and Nicole has a long shot which ends up on the wrong side of the post. A minute before full time Wigan scored their fifth goal.

The Wigan manager summed up Bury’s team performance with the comment “you could not tell the Bury team was under strength without counting heads as they played so well”

21/09/08        Bury Girls & Ladies FC    V        Preston North End Girls FC

We had excellent weather, the sun was shining, minimum wind and generally too warm for running around chasing a ball.  Bury fielded just 7 players no subs, Preston had a full squad with 3 subs and used this to their advantage substituting on a regular basis.

First Half

Bury kicked off the game.  It started with Bury containing Preston, holding a steady defence and taking the game into Preston’s half many times,  a status quo existed for the first 20 minutes.  A Preston player was injured which gave both teams an opportunity to get a drink,  then Preston scored twice in the last 10 minutes taking us up to half time.

Second half

Preston scored in the first minute of the second half after which was a long period of missed opportunities on both sides and in the last 15 minutes Preston scored another two goals.

The Bury Team this week played as a team should play. Creating chances on a regular basis .  The goal keeper made some very good saves and the ones that went in would have been very difficult for anyone to save. The missed opportunities should be put down to a lack of experience and confidence but given time this will correct its self .
