The Bury girls proved just
how strong a team they were in a game that kept the supporters on the
sideline entertained for the whole 6o minutes. Westbury started the
game choosing to play defensively and continued to do so for much of the
first half. Ashlee, Kate and Amber battled hard in midfield to get past
the Westbury girls but they were strong in defence and any goal scoring
opportunities created by Bury were intercepted. Just as the first half
was nearing a close Bury got the break they needed, and with some
skilful ball passing between Megan, Kate and Ashlee, the Bury girls were
able to get the ball down the field and land it straight at Beatie’s
feet. The opportunity to take the lead was too good and with some fancy
footwork, Beatie got past the Westbury defence and buried the ball right
at the back of the net!!! BURY GOAL!!!!!!!! The first half came to a
close with Bury leading 1-0.
The 2nd half commenced with Bury on the attack! Maisie and Frankie

over again but the ball just wouldn’t find the back of the net!
Westbury, not ready to take a defeat lying down, picked up momentum and
fought desperately to get past Jay and Aimee, who proved to be too
strong a partnership to break down. Bury were back on their feet again
and with Megan and Frankie and Maisie making some skilful tackles, the
ball was back with the home side. It wasn’t long until Beatie, once
again with the ball at her feet, blasted it straight past the Westbury
keeper and into the back of the net!!!! BURY GOAL!!!!! 2-0.
Westbury wasn’t about to give up and quickly fired the ball at Bury’s
keeper Eleanor who saved the ball with ease! Kate fired ball after ball
at the Westbury goal only to keep hitting the bar! The Westbury girls
could no longer keep the Bury girls at bay and with the final whistle
fast approaching, Beatie fired one final ball straight at the Westbury

THE BURY GIRLS SHOWED EXCELLENT FORM IN A GAME THAT KEPT THE SUPPORTERS ON THE SIDELINE ENTERTAINED FROM START TO FINISH. WIGAN STARTED THE GAME ON THE ATTACK WITH SEVERAL GOOD RUNS. AIMEE AND JAY WERE KEPT ON THEIR TOES BUT THE PARTNERSHIP IN DEFENCE WAS TOO STRONG AND KEPT ANY POTENTIAL WIGAN GOALS AT BAY! IT WASN’T LONG UNTIL THE BURY MASSIVE TOOK CONTROL OF THE GAME WITH SOME FANTASTIC RUNS FROM THE BURY FORWARDS. BEATIE, FRANKIE AND KATE ALL CONTINUED TO FIRE SOME FANTASTIC SHOTS ON TARGET BUT THE WIGAN GOALIE WAS STRONG AND MADE SOME FANTASTIC SAVES. 21/09/08 Bury Girls & Ladies FC V Inter Mill Girls FC
The match was unlucky for Bury but
the team played well and they got the tackles in and the clearances
needed. Bury Girls just needed the team to attack and score, we pushed
up the pitch and the pressure was on but the goals just didn't happen.
Mill Hill played well they got the attacks in and although Bury's
defence was good they managed to score. Bury were very unlucky, our
goalie Eleanor made some excellent saves and she had a brilliant game.
We needed more support upfront to get the goals needed so we can work at
this in training.
We had a new team member playing in the game called Amber and she fitted
in very well, she got some important tackles in and had a good first
game.
The Bury Manager was upset that we lost the game but was happy with our
performance. We had lots of support from Mums, Dads, Grandparents
etc about 20 people came to support us.
We are looking forward to our next game.... Come on Bury Come on

The fixture list saw us drawn out to Manchester United away, which was
always going to be an exciting and tough game. The weather was perfect
for football and with Manchester United's ground staff doing an
excellent job on the pitch it was definitely the perfect setting for us
to play football. Bury started brightly with plenty of passes and put
lots of pressure on Man Utd. Beatie controlling the midfield and taking
on Man Utd at every chance in this fast paced game. Bury looked the
more likely to score in the opening 10 minutes and Katie and Jay making
their debuts made it really hard for Man Utd to attack.
Ashlea played upfront on her own and had some good opportunities but
with Man Utd's two best players playing in defence it was always going
to be tough but she did really well in pushing forward.
Man Utd stepped up a gear and unfortunately went 1-0 up, but it didn't
take long for Bury to get back in the game with some excellent tackles
and clearances from Aimee we was able to break Man Utd down.
Ashlea picked up the ball in midfield laid it off to Beatie who was able
to get the better of the United defence and with her quick feet and
excellent skill was able to shoot from long distance and the ball
screamed into the back of the net.
BBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAATTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THE
BURY GOOOOOAAALLLL MACHINE!!!!!!!!! HITS HER FIRST GOAL OF THE SEASON
AND OOOOHH WHAT A BEAUTY.
The players went crazy, 1-1. Both teams continued to play neat and tidy
football, both teams had chances and the football was free-flowing and
highly charged. United scored again just before half time 2-1.
At half time I spoke to the players about team effort and never giving
up, I made a change of taking a defender off and putting on a more
attacking player, to give us more options in front of goal. I really
believe that the players we have could go on and win this game.
The second half started off well with Bury matching Utd all the way with
a couple of dodgy hand balls from United and Bury getting nothing.
Manchester Utd were given a corner which they took short and caught Bury
sleeping, the ball went in the back of the net 3-1, a touch lucky for
United but we need to be more focussed. We continued to frustrate them
and push forward this showed with the amount of free kicks we where
given in the 2nd half.
Maisie took Man Utd defence on and again we were unlucky not to score.
We got a direct free kick just inside the area which Beatie took and
smashed into the top corner 3-2.
Eleanor made some brilliant saves in this game and is getting better
with every match, she kept us in this one. In the last few minutes Man
Utd scored again 4-2. The game was entertaining and the team did us
proud.
I would also like to thank the brilliant support we took to Manchester
United.
09/03/08 Bolton Wanderers Ladies FC V Bury Girls & Ladies FC
Outstanding, Unbelievable ……… and ultimately so gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking. How else could you sum up Bury’s best display of the season?
A bright start for Bury with some good passing and strong defences play unsettling the Bolton team that surprisingly beat us at home only a few weeks ago. Bury bossed the game from the outset, soaking up any Bolton pressure. Yet with the luck of the field, the wet soaky pitch, some how and with disbelief a Bolton attack that lacked any pressure or threat of a goal was bizarrely deflected into the roof of the net.
As manager I had to get the team focused and back on track, they responded brilliantly. The football was neat and tidy; the hard work on the cold Wednesday night was starting to show. We needed to beat the odds believe in the coaching team, do what we do in training.
The passing was brilliant, three; four passes neat two touch football. All we needed was a goal. That came with an excellent piece of team play and the ball was unleashed into the back of the net. All the players and supporters celebrated like an FA cup winner.
The team bonded, smiled, we battled, we tackled, and we scored again 1-2. We was on a high after a few tough tackles and a few injuries the team where put under pressure. A good save from our keeper and a missed opportunity to go 1-3 up, the last 5 minutes seemed to last for hours. One moment of magic from Bolton and a shot like a bullet they equalised 2-2.
Manager’s notes
The team were un-lucky not to get 3 points, we deserved to win and from this point on we should be able to climb the league.

14/10/07 Bromley Cross Girls FC V Bury Girls FC
This match started with Bury running the show and looked like the stars they will be. They were so unlucky not to be three or four up in the first fifteen minutes. Corner after corner shot after shot but the Bromley Cross keeper was in tune and kept all efforts out. Bromley Cross against play went and scored and Bury with their heads still high went looking for the leveller but couldn't find it. Against play again Bromley Cross went and scored another. Half time Bromley Cross 2 Bury 0. The second half started with Bromley Cross believing in themselves with a two nil lead. Bury tried there hardest but things just wouldn't turn our way. Bromley went on to finish the game 5- 0. A great effort by a Bury team with a result that flattered the opposition.
