09/03/08    Bolton Wanderers Ladies FC    V     Bury Girls & Ladies FC

Outstanding, Unbelievable ……… and ultimately so gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking.  How else could you sum up Bury’s best display of the season?

A bright start for Bury with some good passing and strong defences play unsettling the Bolton team that surprisingly beat us at home only a few weeks ago.  Bury bossed the game from the outset, soaking up any Bolton pressure.  Yet with the luck of the field, the wet soaky pitch, some how and with disbelief a Bolton attack that lacked any pressure or threat of a goal was bizarrely deflected into the roof of the net.

As manager I had to get the team focused and back on track, they responded brilliantly.  The football was neat and tidy; the hard work on the cold Wednesday night was starting to show.  We needed to beat the odds believe in the coaching team, do what we do in training.

The passing was brilliant, three; four passes neat two touch football.  All we needed was a goal.  That came with an excellent piece of team play and the ball was unleashed into the back of the net.  All the players and supporters celebrated like an FA cup winner.

The team bonded, smiled, we battled, we tackled, and we scored again 1-2.  We was on a high after a few tough tackles and a few injuries the team where put under pressure.  A good save from our keeper and a missed opportunity to go 1-3 up, the last 5 minutes seemed to last for hours.  One moment of magic from Bolton and a shot like a bullet they equalised 2-2.

Manager’s notes

The team were un-lucky not to get 3 points, we deserved to win and from this point on we should be able to climb the league.

14/10/07    Bromley Cross Girls FC V Bury Girls FC

This match started with Bury running the show and looked like the stars they will be. They were so unlucky not to be three or four up in the first fifteen minutes. Corner after corner shot after shot but the Bromley Cross keeper was in tune and kept all efforts out.  Bromley Cross against play went and scored and Bury with their heads still high went looking for the leveller but couldn't find it.  Against play again Bromley Cross went and scored another.  Half time Bromley Cross 2 Bury 0.    The second half started with Bromley Cross believing in themselves with a two nil lead.  Bury tried there hardest but things just wouldn't turn our way.  Bromley went on to finish the game 5- 0. A great effort by a Bury team with a result that flattered the opposition.
