We had waited for this one for twelve months and as last years finalist we wanted to go one better and be winners. We actually knew we could go out in the group stages as every top team in the country was here for this one and one slip up may cost us dearly. We had to play5 group games and when your playing fantastic northern Irish teams, Scottish teams and Scouse teams, well you know you've got your hands full. We had players missing but we also knew we were still strong as long as injuries didn't occur. Bury started quite slow but we ground a win out again the top Leeds team of Wigton Moor 1-0. Next up was Northrop who we beat also 1-0 then it was top North East team of Blyth which also went to us 1-0 then to be guaranteed as group winners we had top Northern Ireland team Boroughmuir who we beat 4-0. This guaranteed top spot and so against Athletico from Liverpool we could come off the gas and have fun and this we did and this ended 1-1. Still unbeaten and group winners. Next up was the semi-final against Cestria who we had previously beaten twice in the last twelve months but make no mistake these North Easterners are a absolute top team and have a international and we rate them as the 4th best team in the country just behind us.. We must be their bogey team as we beat them 1-0 in what was a thriller.. for the second year running we beat them in the semi. Cestria had beat Preston North End in the league stages and Mersey Girls who we rate as the top team at 13s in the country didn't even make the semis and had to pack their bags. The final now consisted of Bury v Preston and we wanted this big time but our injuries were now telling and even the battle scarred girls just couldn't be held back and played through injury and aching limbs to go down 2-1 in another epic battle against a very good Preston North End. We rated this as probably the best tournament in the country as all the top teams play each other.
