The Bury team:
Lucy, Emily, Vicky, Zoe, Lauren, Chantel, Emma, Gemma, Becca, Fran, Steph, Jayde and Madz.

Shawnee having won the toss kicked off. From the off you could see this American team were never going to be a pushover and looked very fit and had quick players. With end to end action and brave tackles going in from both teams. Bury finally broke the deadlock with Lucy going for a fifty-fifty ball with the keeper and then a desperate clearance off the line by a defender which she just didn't quite clear and drove into the side netting within the goal. One nil the Shakers. Shawnee hit Bury straight back and levelled within minutes with some deadly accurate one , twos which split the Bury team wide open and showed us that we have to be their equals or suffer. Bury did look good and played some fantastic football and then retook the lead with more clinical finishing from Jayde. Bury had to work hard and that they did and as half time approached Gemma got on the score sheet to go in at half time with a 3-1 lead. Bury came out for the second half knowing they were still only half way home and couldn't afford to be over confident against this super fit American team. The Americans battled hard for every ball and made Bury graft but maybe the slightly older Bury girls just had the edge over this very good Kansas team and went on to win 7-2 with both Lucy and Jayde scoring hattricks. A great game of football for all to see and a great turn out from the spectators, players past and present and the under 17's players who did Bury proud and of course the Americans of which are all great players and of whom one was only 14.
It was a great experience and hopefully one that can be repeated in the future.
