On Sunday the 8th July 2007 last seasons U11s travelled to Euxton in the hope they could continue the success of the U10s the day before.  However, the weather was not going to be on their side.

The tournament was well attended and teams from Bromley Cross, Darwen, Lammack, Inter Mill Hill, Burscough, and Euxton were represented.

It was a good opportunity for Bury to play new players they now have for next season and the team gelled very well.  Well done to Ellie and Lizzie who played very well.

By the second game the pitches were becoming unplayable, although the staff at Euxton were doing everything possible to keep them clear unfortunately it was raining far to hard to keep up.

Bury kept on playing and the girls didn't seem too worried about the deteriorating conditions, as far as they were concerned it added to the fun.  Having completing the heats Bury met Darwen in the quarter final.  Tactics became just 'kick it' as the ball had long since stopped rolling, both teams did the best they could, luckily Bury came out on top 2-0 winners.  Bury then met Bromley Cross in the semi-final, again the girls did their best and after full-time the result was 0-0, extra time was played and still the result remained 0-0.  It all came down to penalties.  These were the hardest penalties the girls had to take.  They couldn't place the ball, they couldn't take a run up for fear of slipping and they couldn't kick the ball along the ground as it wouldn't roll.  Any team could have won at this stage unfortunately Bury lost 4-3 on penalties.

Watching the spirit and the team work of these players, Bury's next seasons U12s team will do very well.  They are maturing in to good players with a better understanding of the passing game.  Well done to Melissa, Holly, Louise, Ellie, Kimberli, Lizzie, Abbie and Lauren, is there nothing that can stop you playing football !

Typical British Summertime, later the same day and the sun comes out.

There is only one way to deal with the kit and that's to put it on the washing line and hose it down before it goes in the machine.

It doesn't come much worse than this.

Lammack.

On Saturday the 7th July 2007 the U10s won their first tournament.  The team that travelled to Euxton for this tournament is next seasons U11s side and the first time this team have played competitive football together.  A great start to pre-season training.

Awaiting further match reports and photos from the event.
